Tragic deaths: Parents and their only physically challenged daughter found dead in bed
In a sensational and tragic incident, three members of a single family were found lying dead in their bed room on Friday at the ward number 11 of Thakur Para under Melaghar police station of Sepahijala district.
Sources said that elderly couple Chintaharan Paul and his wife Pratima Paul, had a physically disabled daughter Monica Paul, who was studying up to second year of her graduation, were found dead in their bed, when their relatives and local villagers noticed none of them awake from the sleep after sunrise.
Finding no sound movement in their bedroom or other rooms Chintaharan Paul’s elder brother got concerned and went to see why they had not awakened from sleep.
Sources added that Chintaharan’s elder brother managed to break open the window and saw that all three members of the family were sound asleep. The elder brother called in immediate neighbours and broke into the room and found Chintaharan, Pratima and Monica lying dead.
Immediately, the local villagers informed the police and recovered the bodies of 3 members of the same family and sent them to the hospital morgue for autopsy. However, no one can understand how three members of the same family died at the same time. As a result, everyone thinks that the real mystery of this incident will be revealed after the autopsy.
Police sources said that during investigation they smelled heavy smell of pesticide and primary investigation suggests that elderly coupled killed their physically disabled daughter by consuming poison and both of them had also committed suicide by consuming pesticide.
Police added that the nature of the death could be unveiled after the autopsy report and they have also started investigation to unearth the mystery of the death of three persons of a family.
Sources also said that neither local people including dead Chintaharan’s elder brother cannot make out how all three members of Chintaharan’s family including him could have died. There was no injury mark on the bodies and local people feel that the reason for death would be known after the post-mortem report is available. But, a section of local people both couple had thought after their death, who will look after their physically challenged daughter and that may be reason for mass suicide.
