Tripura budget 2026–27 aims at inclusive development: CM
Self-reliance and development key focus of Tripura budget: CM
Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Monday said that the state budget for the financial year 2026–27 will bring development to people from all walks of life.
He said that this time, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy has presented a truly people-oriented budget. The current state government is trying to ensure transparency in all its actions.
Dr Saha said this in the Assembly on Friday while discussing the proposed budget presented by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy during the recent budget session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
In his speech, Dr Saha stated that Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy presented the budget for the financial year 2026–27 in the ninth session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly on March 16, 2026.
“I fully support this budget. After a long time, I have seen such a well-prepared budget. There is a need for financial discipline in budgeting. Tripura is a small state in India, and it is very challenging to present a balanced budget while addressing all needs. I thank the Finance Minister for presenting this excellent budget. This year’s budget has been prepared in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building a developed India,” he said.
Dr Saha added that this year’s budget is consistent with the Union Budget.
“The theme of self-reliance has been reflected in the budget. It will benefit people from all sections of society. Women, students, youth, tribals, Scheduled Castes, OBCs, minorities, employees, and pensioners—everyone will benefit from this budget. The Finance Minister has presented a truly people-oriented budget, keeping all sections of society in mind. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has demonstrated his leadership through action, not just words. Under his leadership, the country’s economy has moved from 11th to 4th place. India is set to become the third-largest economy by 2030,” he said.
The Chief Minister also said that if the country develops, the state will also progress, and this year’s budget has been framed with that objective.
“The states of the North Eastern region will benefit significantly from this year’s Union Budget. Earlier, the North East did not receive much attention. However, in this year’s budget, the hopes and aspirations of the people have been prioritized. People have strong trust in the Prime Minister. That is why the BJP-led government was formed in Tripura in 2018, and again in 2023. Our government is committed to transparency and overall development. We are working tirelessly from 6 a.m. to midnight, and the results will be visible in the coming days,” he said.
Participating in the budget discussion, the Chief Minister further said, “We are moving forward with the goal of sustainable development and a ‘Viksit Bharat.’ People have faith in the Prime Minister and in our government in Tripura. Therefore, I fully support this year’s budget. Special emphasis has been placed on the education sector, as without educational development, the state cannot progress. No new taxes have been introduced in this budget.”
He added that the total allocation for the financial year 2026–27 has been set at Rs 34,212.31 crore, which is an increase of 5.52% compared to the estimated budget for the financial year 2025–26.
