Tripura gears up for Census 2027 with digital push; state-level workshop held in Agartala
A one-day state-level workshop on the first phase of Census 2027 was held at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala on Monday, bringing together key officials to strategize the implementation of the nationwide exercise in Tripura.
The workshop was attended by the state’s Director of Census Operations (DCO) Ratan Biswas and Deputy Registrar General of the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner (ORGI) under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Subhash Dasgupta, along with senior administrative officials.
Detailed deliberations were held on the modalities of conducting the first phase of the census across the state. District Magistrates, Additional District Magistrates, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, and other officials from all districts participated in the programme.
Officials informed that nearly 11,000 personnel will be deployed for the census work, which will be conducted entirely through a digital system. The first phase of the exercise, focusing on house listing and housing census, is scheduled to be carried out from July 17 to July 31. The second phase will commence on August 1 and continue till August 30, spanning around 45 days.
The workshop emphasized key aspects such as the census process and use of digital tools, recruitment and training of personnel, fund management, field-level challenges, inter-agency coordination, and publicity measures. Discussions also covered the use of digital platforms like CMMS and HLBC, mobile applications for data collection, monitoring through the CMMS dashboard, and the process of self-enumeration.
