During checking in the police, police recovered sig packets containing 60,000 Yaba tablets, worth Rs. 60 crore.

He said that police arrested two persons boarded in the car including driver and owner of the seized narcotic items. They were identified as Krishna Chandra Singh (34) of Rabirbazara area under West Tripura district and Mohammad Maman Hussan (32) of Bishalgarh under Sepahijala district.

The SP added that the intercepted vehicle  was coming from Mizoram state and based on specific information, they recovered the highly addictive methamphetamine tablets, also locally called Yaba tablet or party tablet.

“The drugs smuggled from Myanmar and entered Tripura through Mizoram and Assam states. We are now interrogating the detainees to obtain further details and police have already started investigation under a specific case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and forwarded both arrested drug smugglers before a local court for further legal proceedings.
