Tripura will have integrated aqua park at Kailashahar with multi-facilities, Fisheries Minister
An integrated aqua park will be constructed at Satero Miyan Haur (lake) of Kailashahar subdivision of Unakoti district and the Fisheries department of Tripura government has submitted a proposal of Rs. 99.99 crore to the union government.
Addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat on Friday afternoon, Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das said that union government has so far sanctioned Rs. 42.39 crore with state share of 10% in the first phase for implementation of the integrated aqua park project under centrally sponsored scheme (CSS) with an aim to job generation of 1300 people with target of increases of fish production.
He said that the project would be implemented covering 115.83 acre land of Satero Miyan Haur (lake) areas.
The minister added that in the integrated aqua park and in the hatchery will be utilized for rearing brood fishes, breeding and quality fingering production of carps like Catla, Rohu, Mrigal, Silver carp, grass carp etc. These ponds will be utilized for table fish production of high value fishes like Koi, Singhi, Magur etc, further this unit will be utilized for demonstrating the bio-floc fish culture to the farmers, trainees, unemployed youths.
He said a feed plant would be established and a fish processing unit for sustainable livelihood generation and make beneficiaries self-reliant.
Das added that a public aquarium and fish angling ponds would be constructed in the integrated aqua park (IAP) to attract tourists; which will give a boost in the development of the tourism sector in the state. Besides that the visitors of IAP will get the best quality restaurant facilities and infrastructure facilities for residential training would be established to offer best quality training programmes for the farmers, unemployed youths and students. The IAP will have infrastructure of laboratory facilities to provide advisory services to the farmers through soil and water testing, disease diagnosis etc to enhance fish production in the state. During the press conference, secretary of Fisheries department, B S Mishra and director Santosh Das were also present.
