Truck safely crossed all check points in Tripura, caught in Assam gate with Ganja worth of Rs. 3.18 cr
A container truck after unloading its goods in Agartala has safely crossed all police check and Naka points including Churaibari check-post, but it entered into Assam’s territory of Churaibari gate, police recovered huge quantities of dry cannabis worth of crores from the secret cabins of the truck.
Police sources said that a container truck (NL-02-Q-8170) with registration of Nagaland state after unloading goods in Agartala had loaded 91 big packets of dry cannabis (Ganja) and the driver of the truck safely passed all the checkpoints inside Tripura on Friday night. When, the truck after crossing Churaibari gate in North Tripura, entered Churaibari check point and watch-tower area of Assam portion on Saturday morning, police detained the truck. But, within seconds, the accused driver managed to escape from the spot. Then, Assam police conducted a search operation inside the truck and found 91 big packets of dry Ganja hidden in the secret cabins and top of the truck.
Giving details of the seizure, Pratap Das, additional SP of Karimganj district of Assam seized cannabis weighing 637 kilograms and worth of Rs. 3.18 crore. He said that they have registered a specific case under NDPS Act and started investigation to find out the source and destination of this big consignment of Ganja. He said that a search operation has also been launched to arrest the accused truck driver.
