Two more Tripura youths arrested by Assam police for human trafficking
Again on Sunday a team of Assam police has arrested two youths involved with human trafficking from Hrishyamukh area under South Tripura district and within past one month, many youths of the state were arrested by Assam police , who are directly involved infiltration of Rohingyas inside Indian territory.
Assam Police arrested these youths from Belonia in the South Tripura district in connection with a case registered against them in the neighbouring state over charges of human trafficking and aiding infiltration of Rohingya refugees inside Indian soil via Tripura.
Sources said that on Sunday based on a specific FIR of human trafficking at Karimganj district of Assam, a team of police in association of state police arrived at Belonia police station and conducted a raid at Nama Para village of Hrishyamukh.
During the raid, the joint police team of Tripura and Assam managed to arrest two youths identified as Kartik Nama (23) and Shiv Shankar Ghosh (26) from their respective houses on Sunday midnight.
Police sources said that based on the FIR STF-1/23 under section 120B, 121A, 153 A, 1B, 460 and 471 of IPC has also brought both arrested youths to Karimganj on Monday under transit remand.
Earlier, on July 17, the Assam police had also arrested another youth identified as Partha Sen, who was recently arrested by Belonia police station along with a Bangladeshi woman for human trafficking.
Police said that Assam police based on a FIR registered at Silchar police station under section 14 of Foreigner Act, section 12(1)© of Passport Act with added section 307 of IPC and 14© of Foreigners Act have arrested Partha Sen.
Police added that a few days ago, the Silchar police arrested 14 Rohingyas, who entered into Indian territory through the Belonia border and during interrogation, arrested Rohingyas revealed the name of accused Partha Sen, who was allegedly involved with human trafficking.
Few days ago Assam police also arrested two persons including a Bangladesh national from a village under Sidhai Mohanpur police station.
The arrest came a day after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma alleged that a few brokers of Tripura are facilitating Rohingya infiltrators to reach Delhi and Kashmir.
Just a day after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said his state is being used as a “corridor” by Rohingya infiltrators to reach Delhi and Kashmir and alleged that a few brokers in Tripura are facilitating the infiltration, a team of Assam Police Saturday arrested two persons, including a Bangladeshi national, from a village in Sidhai Mohanpur of West Tripura district.
The team conducted a surprise raid in the area in connection with a case registered in Assam.
Assam Police Additional Superintendent of Police Bidyut Saikia, who led the operation, said they raided the residence of one Kajal Sarkar in connection with a case of Rohingya infiltration lodged in Assam and recovered nine Aadhaar cards, a few PAN cards and Bangladeshi documents from his possession. Sarkar was arrested along with Bishnu Chandra Mandal, a Bangladeshi national, who was found at his home.
Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Law and Order, Jyotishman Das Chowdhury said the arrestees are currently in the custody of the Assam sleuths and are being interrogated.
As per a BSF report, 369 people were arrested, including 59 Rohingya, 160 Indians and 150 Bangladeshi nationals, in different operations in Tripura in 2022.
