The Agartala city police on Saturday arrested two thieves and recovered a stolen Canon DSLR camera and other apparatus under their possessions.

Giving details, OC of East Agartala police station said that one Khushal Shil of Dhaleshwar area had lost his valuable camera and on yesterday, his father lodged a complaint before police.

After receiving the complaint, police formed a civil team with police personnel and on over suspicion has detained one Saikat Saha of Kakrabon, who stays in the Baldakhal area of the city as a tenant.

Based on the interrogation statement of Saikat Saha, police raided the house of his one friend, identified as Amar Debbarma of Khumwlung, who is also staying as a tenant in Dhaleshwar area. During a search at his house, police recovered the stolen Canon camera and all its apparatus.

He said that police registered a theft case and forwarded both arrested Saikat Saha and Amar Debbarma with police remand appeals before a local court to get more information of the thieves’ gang involved with stolen cases in and around the city.
