Two Tripura residents arrested in Manipur with Yaba tablets worth Rs 4 Cr
In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, security forces in Manipur arrested two individuals from Tripura for possessing a large quantity of contraband Yaba tablets, officials said.
The arrest took place on April 9 at the T. Khullen Naka Check Post under Senapati Police Station in Senapati district. The accused have been identified as Satyendra Nath (38), a resident of Rambahadur Para under Kanchanpur police station, and Sudip Paul (42), a resident of Pekucherra under Panisagar police station, both in North Tripura district.
During the operation, security personnel recovered approximately 1.220 kilograms of suspected Yaba tablets (amphetamine), estimated to be worth around Rs 4 crore in the international market.
In addition to the contraband, officials seized a red Hyundai i20 car bearing registration number AS01DN-3717, along with its key and registration certificate. Four mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, and a driving licence were also recovered from the possession of the accused.
Both individuals have been taken into custody, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of law. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the seized narcotics, as well as to identify any wider network involved in the smuggling operation.
