Two youths get life imprisonment for murder of a middle aged woman
In a landmark judgement, a district court of Sepahijala district of Tripura on Saturday sentenced two accused persons into life imprisonment for murder of a middle aged woman.
Sources said that on April 27, 2020, two accused persons identified as Suman Das (24) of Murabari area of Bishalgarh and Chandan Das (26) of North Charilam of same district has alleged raped and murder one middle age widow Krishna Das (55), who lived her house alone and both accused allegedly raped and killed by strangulation. Later, they dumped her body in an abandoned well to hide the evidence.
After recovery of the body, the daughter in law of the victim woman, Sumitra Das filed an FIR at Bishalgarh police station and registered the case under section 376(D), 302, 201 and 34 of IPC started investigation. During the investigation, police arrested both accused and filed the charge-sheet before court.
During the trial of the case, the additional session judge of Serpahijal district recorded witnesses of 25 persons including Lalita Das, mother of one accused Suman Das. Lalita Das has also recorded her witness before the court against her son.
On Saturday, the court pronounced rigorous life imprisonment to both accused under section 302 of IPC and three years of rigorous imprisonment under section 201 of IPC. During the trail of the case, alleged rape was not established and accused persons were not sentenced under section 376(D) of IPC.
