Veteran BJP MLA Surajit Dutta passes away in a private hospital at Kolkata on December 27 midnight, who was airlifted to a Kolkata based nursing home from Agartala for better treatment.
Few days ago, Surajit Dutta, popularly known as ‘Sunu Da’ was admitted to ILS Hospital in Agartala, who was suffering from kidney related ailments for years.
On hearing about his illness, many leaders including Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Minister of State Pratima Bhaumik, Agartala City Mayor Dipak Majumdar including leader of opposition Animesh Debbarma visited the hospital in Agartala and enquired about his health conditions.
A team of specialist doctors from ILS Hospital was monitoring his health status and despite their best efforts, he was not responding, who had been suffering from acute kidney disease for a long time and was undergoing regular dialysis.
After his condition was not improving, his family members, party leaders, decided to shift him to AMRI Hospital in Kolkata and on Wednesday afternoon through an air ambulance, Dutta shifted to Kolkata. But, during treatment at Kolkata, Dutta breathed his last at about 11.15 PM on Wednesday (December 27 night).
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha through his social media post said “Saddened & pained by the demise of senior politician & sitting MLA of Bharatiya Janata Party Shri Surajit Dutta (Sunu Daa) during treatment in a hospital outside the State. His demise is an irreparable loss in the State's political arena. May the departed soul find eternal peace! My deepest sympathy to the bereaved family, Om Shanti. As a mark of respect, the Govt of Tripura announced one-day State Mourning on Thursday.”
