The mysterious death of a 37-year-old womanh, has triggered concern in Durganagar area of Khowai district. Her body was reportedly recovered near her house late on Friday night.
Police sources said that , deceased woman was identified as Monika Debnath , who died in unusual circumstances. Although preliminary information suggests a suspected death by hanging, questions have been raised in some quarters over the actual circumstances surrounding her death.
Sources said Monika had married Lakshman Paul around three to four months ago. She had been married once before and had a 15-year-old daughter from her previous marriage.
Khowai Women police station has stated that the exact cause of death will be established after the post-mortem examination report and further investigation.
Meanwhile, police have detained Monika’s husband, Lakshman Paul, for questioning in connection with the incident as part of the ongoing investigation.
