Youth Congress holds candlelight march in Agartala against Manipur violence
The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) organized a silent candlelight march in Agartala on Monday evening to protest the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur.
The protestors called on the central government to take immediate and decisive action to end the crisis in the Northeastern state.
The march, which began from Congress Bhavan, passed various thoroughfares of Agartala, saw participants holding candles and a banner urging for peace and justice in Manipur and demanding immediate imposition of President’s rule to protect its people.
The demonstration highlighted concerns over the escalating ethnic clashes in Manipur, which have resulted in significant loss of life and widespread damage.
The state Youth press president, Nilkamal Saha demanded that the government take swift steps to restore peace and protect the people of Manipur. They urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to protect the peoples of Manipur and should visit the state to restore peace and normalcy.
