“If Oman gets in the way, we’ll bomb the s*** out of them,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News on Monday, days before the deadline for the 60-day US-Iran ceasefire.

Iran-Oman talks over Strait

Trump’s remarks came in response to a question about parallel negotiations between Iran and Oman concerning arrangements for managing shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian diplomats have in recent weeks been holding discussions with Omani officials over a provisional framework for the movement of vessels through the key waterway, which has become one of the major flashpoints in the Middle East conflict.

The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial global shipping route and any disruption there could have significant implications for international trade and energy supplies.

Trump calls for Iran's surrender

Trump also said Iran should “put up the white flag of surrender”, according to Fox News journalist Trey Yingst, who shared details of the interview on X.

“They’re good poker players, but they’re dying,” Trump was quoted as saying.

Asked about his timeline for the conflict, Trump said he was not working under a specific schedule.

“I have no time schedule. I’m not in a hurry... the midterms have nothing to do with my thinking,” he said.

Nuclear weapons remain Trump's 'number one goal'

In a separate post on Truth Social, Trump said the United States' primary objective would remain preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

“The number one Goal is, and always will be, that Iran cannot have, in any way, shape, or form, a Nuclear Weapon,” he wrote.

Trump’s latest comments come as the deadline for the 60-day ceasefire between the United States and Iran approaches, adding further uncertainty over the future of the conflict and the security of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
