‘Bhow bhow!’: Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury's dog-bark reply on privilege motion question over puppy-in-Parliament controversy!
New Delhi/IBNS: Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury has courted controversy after she responded with a dog-bark — saying “Bhow, bhow. Aur kya bolu (What else should I say?)” — when asked about a possible privilege motion against her for bringing a puppy into Parliament, media reports said.
When pressed further, she added, “I will deal with it befittingly if it comes.”
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala slammed the Congress leader, asking, “Do these people have any respect for Parliament? They put parivar above Parliament, drama above dialogue and delivery. Shameful.”

Chowdhury had attended the Winter Session with the puppy in tow, though she soon sent it back home in her car. Her unusual arrival prompted questions about parliamentary protocol.
The real controversy escalated when the Rajya Sabha MP compared the animal to lawmakers inside the House, saying, “those who bite are inside the Parliament,” a comment the BJP said insulted MPs and the institution itself.
Unfazed by criticism, Chowdhury defended her actions, explaining she had rescued the puppy moments earlier. She told reporters, “What protocol? Is there any law? I saw the puppy near an accident site on my way here. Fearing it would be run over, I picked it up and brought it along. Then I sent it home.”
She also targeted the government, saying, “Those who bite are sitting inside Parliament and running the government. Is there no issue with that? Yet if I rescue an animal, it becomes a controversy.” Chowdhury noted she has adopted several stray dogs in the past.
The BJP called the episode a staged “drama,” accusing Chowdhury of disrespecting Parliament. Poonawala said, “Renuka Chowdhury has insulted Parliament and its members.
She brings a dog to Parliament and then says those who bite are inside — implying MPs, staff, everyone. This is not the first time; she has previously mocked Operation Mahadev and Operation Sindoor.”
