CBI summons Abhishek Banerjee in Bengal jobs scam, TMP MP says 'grave state of affairs'
Kolkata/IBNS: Despite a stay from the Supreme Court, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP and party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam, media reports said.
Abhishek has been asked to appear before the CBI office at Nizam Palace at 11 am on Tuesday.
The Supreme Court earlier stayed a Calcutta High Court order asking the CBI and ED to also question Abhishek in connection with Bengal school teachers' recruitment scam.
Slamming the summon, Abhishek tweeted, "In its desperation to ‘harass’ and ‘target’ me, BJP EXPOSES CBI & ED to CONTEMPT OF COURT!
"SC stayed the Calcutta HC’s order in the morn that granted permission to the Central Agencies to summon me. Yet, the ‘SUMMON’ was HAND-DELIVERED today at 1:45 pm. Grave State of affairs!"

As per news reports, the TMP MP is likely to move the court challenging the summons.
Former West Bengal education minister and TMC leader Partha Chatterjee was last year arrested in connection with the job scam after a huge cash worth Rs. 50 crore was recovered from his aide Arpita Mukherjee's residences.
