Karnataka assembly elections: BJP's list on Apr 9, says Basavaraj Bommai
Shivamogga/UNI: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday said the BJP would release its list of candidates on April 9 after the Parliamentary Board meeting in Delhi.
"The process of selection of candidates has been done in a democratic way. For every constituency, 3 candidates have been shortlisted. We will discuss the names of candidates tomorrow and the day after in Delhi, and release the list," he told reporters here.
Bommai, along with his predecessor BS Yediyurappa, will be visiting Delhi on Friday to attend meetings with the party's central leadership during which the names would be finalised.
Asked about resentment in the Congress, Bommai said the rival party does not have candidates in 60 seats, and hence it is approaching sitting BJP MLAs.
"Congress does not have candidates in 60 seats. Before releasing the second list they have again approached our MLAs saying we will keep the ticket pending if they agree to join Congress. This is the condition of the Congress party," he said.
On resentment in the BJP camp at Athani, Bommai said the problem between ticket aspirants, MLC Laxman Savadi and Mahesh Kumathalli, would be resolved amicably.
Congress has so far released the list of 166 candidates and JDS has announced 93 names. The regional party is expected to release its second list today.
