New Delhi: Around 10 country-made hand grenades recovered, one held
New Delhi: Around 10 country-made hand grenades were recovered from forest land behind Metro Vihar, Phase II Holambi Kalan area of Delhi’s Outer North district and arrested one person, police said on Tuesday.
The police had received secret information on April 9, regarding the country-made hand grenade lying in the area of Holambi Kalan.
The team of special staff moved towards the location after confirming the facts, said Delhi Police.
During the raid, a suspected person, identified as Dilip (33) alias Billi, was apprehended from there.
The suspect was sustained and interrogated at that time he told police that he was given around 10 hand grenades by his friend who is the other co-accused (name withheld) to keep these grenades in safe custody, police said.
Thereafter, the grenades were recovered on the instance of Dilip. It was observed that the recovered grenades were put inside a plastic bucket and covered with grass and bushes and kept in the mud near a drain.
The crime team and bomb Disposal squad were informed. Further, the concerned Intelligence agencies were also informed to interrogate the accused, police said.
The accused has been arrested after registration of FIR under section 286 IPC and 3/4/5 the explosive substance Act.
The probe is under way and search of another accused is going on. The motive of hiding these grenades in forest land is yet to be clear, police said.
