Miscreants fired four rounds targeting a BJP leader at Takharjala
A group of miscreants targeting a leader of ruling BJP has fired four rounds and has also ransacked the party office at Takharjala area of Sepahijala district, but the targeted leader and his followers luckily escaped from the life threat.
Police sources said that keeping in view of the ensuing Gram Panchayat elections, the ruling party has intensified their organizational activities and part of the organizational activities and a local leader, Ramananda Debbarma of Khumwlung under Takharjala assembly constituency called a meeting of the party workers on Wednesday evening.
During a meeting of local BJP workers at their party office, a group of unknown miscreants has stormed the party office and fired four rounds targeting Ramananda Debbarma and has also ransacked the party.
During the firing incident, Ramananda Debbarma and his followers escaped unhurt and they informed the incident to Radhapur police station.
Immediately, police rushed to the spot and deployed forces to defuse the tension.
On Thursday morning, a police investigation visited the spot and recovered empty shells of the bullet and launched a manhunt to arrest accused miscreants.
Police sources added that they have deployed large numbers of security forces in that area two defuse escalating tension among political rivals.
