According to the Managing Director of the Assam Tourism Development Corporation, Padmapani Bora, approximately 1.75 million domestic tourists visited Assam during the year 2021-22.
Furthermore, Bora stated that out of the 11.8 million tourists who visited the Northeast region, approximately 10 million were recorded in Assam.
Bora also highlighted that these figures indicate a rising interest among tourists in exploring the state of Assam.
Bora credited the surge in tourist numbers to the improved efficiency of Assam's tourism industry, which includes the development of a user-friendly website that provides comprehensive information on various tourist destinations as well as online booking options.
“The ease of doing business and the prevailing peace are important factors driving growth in the tourism sector,” stated Bora.
