Shimla/UNI: A major fire broke out in the new OPD block of Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital(IGMC) on Wednesday morning due to a cylinder blast in Shimla, a state government official confirmed.

State Spokesperson of Disaster Management Authority said that an incident of Hospital fire occurred at New OPD Building IGMC Shimla.

Huge flames and clouds of smoke were visible on the top floor of the hospital.

Firefighting team has reached the spot and the work of extinguishing the fire is going on.

It is worthwhile to mention that the OPD new block was dedicated to People last month.
