Mumbai/IBNS: Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has referred to her previous experience at Axis Bank while responding to the recent case linked to a business process outsourcing unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Nashik.
She said that similar incidents were reported during her tenure at the bank and were addressed through internal complaints and prompt action.
Amruta Fadnavis, who earlier served as a vice president at Axis Bank, stated that a complaint had been raised regarding male employees allegedly troubling female staff members.
She said that the matter was escalated through appropriate channels, following which senior management took immediate action against those involved.
Commenting on the Nashik case, Amruta Fadnavis emphasised the importance of reporting such incidents without delay.
She said complaints should be formally registered instead of being overlooked, allowing authorities to take necessary action.
She added that raising concerns is essential in addressing workplace issues effectively.
Fadnavis highlighted the need for increased awareness and vigilance, particularly among women, in professional environments.
She stated that individuals should remain alert and informed about their surroundings.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said that he is closely monitoring developments related to the Nashik case.
He stated that law enforcement authorities have been directed to take strict action and that no one found involved would be spared.
The controversy at Tata Consultancy Services’s Nashik BPO unit centres on allegations of coercion, workplace harassment, and claims of forced religious conversion involving some employees.
The issue surfaced after complaints and social media posts triggered public and political attention.
Maharashtra authorities initiated a probe into the case, registering at least nine FIRs.
According to reports, seven arrests have been made so far in connection with the case, while the primary accused, the unit's HR Manager Nida Khan, is still absconding.
TCS has reiterated that it has long maintained a zero-tolerance stance on any form of harassment or coercion, adding that employees allegedly involved in sexual harassment at its Nashik office have been suspended.
Meanwhile, TCS CEO K Krithivasan has announced the creation of an oversight committee, chaired by independent director Keki Mistry, to review the ongoing investigation at the company’s Nashik unit, which is facing allegations of sexual harassment and religious coercion.
Krithivasan said an initial review of internal systems and records has not identified any complaints of this nature through the company’s ethics or POSH mechanisms.
He added that employees under investigation have been suspended while the inquiry continues.
