Supreme Court stays proceedings against Ashoka University professor over Operation Sindoor post

New Delhi/IBNS: The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the proceedings against Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad over two cases related to his online post on Operation Sindoor, media reports said.
A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi told a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Haryana Police that it can't frame charges against the professor till the next hearing, NDTV reported.
Police told the court that one case against Mahmudabad has been closed.
Professor Mahmudabad is an associate professor and Head of the Department of Political Science at Ashoka University located in Sonepat, Haryana.
He was arrested in May after posting on the government's choice of Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh to give briefings on Operation Sindoor.
The professor was granted conditional bail by the Supreme Court.
The professor was asked to surrender his passport to the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sonepat and not to make any social media post or deliver public speech on the investigation and no comment on the Pahalgam terror attack on Operation Sindoor.
