Jammu and Kashmir's picturesque Pahalgam city witnessed one of the worst terror attacks in recent times when terrorists opened fire on tourists after identifying them as non-Muslims on Tuesday afternoon.
The attack occurred at a time when JD Vance is visiting India and PM Narendra Modi is on a two-day trip to Saudi Arabia.
While TV9 Network put the toll at 27, various media reports confirmed more than 25 deaths in the attack that prompted Union Home Minister Amit Shah to rush to Srinagar after he wrapped up a high-level meeting in Delhi.
According to reports, Modi is cutting short his Saudi visit and will return to India early Wednesday morning.
“While he was originally scheduled to return tomorrow night, he will now arrive in India early Wednesday morning,” sources told Mint.
