'Gen Z believes in BJP, infiltration biggest threat': PM Modi targets Mamata govt from Bengal rally
Malda/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that India’s Gen Z strongly believes in the BJP’s development model, citing the party’s historic victory in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
Addressing a public rally in West Bengal's Malda, the Prime Minister said the landslide win reflected the younger generation’s faith in the BJP’s governance and expressed confidence that Bengal voters would follow the same path in the upcoming Assembly elections.
“The youth of this country, especially Gen Z, trusts the BJP’s development agenda,” PM Modi said, adding that Bengal would soon witness a similar political change.
Sharp attack on Mamata govt
Switching to Bengali, the Prime Minister declared, “Ei sarkar palano dorkaar,” asserting that the Trinamool Congress government must be removed.
He accused the Mamata Banerjee-led administration of corruption and blocking central welfare schemes from reaching the poor.
“The heartless TMC government is looting public money and stopping development work,” he alleged, claiming that Bengal’s progress would begin only after the BJP comes to power.
'Infiltration poses biggest threat'
Making infiltration a central issue, PM Modi said it was one of the biggest challenges facing West Bengal.
He argued that even developed countries were removing illegal migrants, and similar action was necessary in Bengal.
“There are prosperous countries in the world that are removing infiltrators. It is equally necessary in West Bengal,” Modi said.
Linking recent incidents of violence in districts such as Malda and Murshidabad to infiltration, the Prime Minister alleged that demographic changes were being engineered due to political patronage.
‘Syndicate raj’
The Prime Minister accused the TMC of running a “syndicate raj” and promoting politics of intimidation.
He claimed that a network backed by the ruling party was helping infiltrators settle in Bengal, leading to social tension and unrest.
“Riots have erupted in many districts because of infiltration,” PM Modi said, warning that strict action would be taken once the BJP forms the government.
Modi reassures refugees
Reassuring refugees, especially the politically significant Matua community, PM Modi said they had nothing to fear.
He reminded them that the Citizenship Amendment Act protects those who fled religious persecution in neighbouring countries.
“I want to assure refugees like the Matuas — you don’t need to worry,” he said.
BJP states as governance model
The Prime Minister said Bengal was now surrounded by BJP-ruled states that had ensured good governance and development.
“Now it is Bengal’s turn,” he said, calling on voters to give the BJP an opportunity to govern.
Echoes of Amit Shah’s earlier warning
PM Modi’s remarks echoed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s earlier warnings that infiltration along the Bangladesh border had become a serious national security issue.
Shah had accused the TMC of enabling illegal migration for electoral gains and blamed the state government for delays in border fencing.
With Assembly elections just months away, infiltration and border security have emerged as major political flashpoints.
While the BJP has repeatedly targeted the TMC over corruption and misgovernance, Bengal's ruling party has consistently rejected the allegations.
